Oh, hello!
Sophie Cooper, here! Thank you so much for stopping by. I would love to introduce myself.
Sophie (she/her) is currently based in New York City and originally from Orlando, Florida! Since age five, her one true love and passion has been the theater. Growing up, she was an active participant in educational theater programming, where she spent her childhood gracing the stage of the local talent show singing Wicked’s Popular or in the theater as Jellyfish #2 in The Little Mermaid.
Sophie eventually attended The University of Central Florida, earning her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology. While working towards her degree, she spent her collegiate years pursuing her ambitions, working in theatrical, educational, and event management spaces.
During this time, she has grown to love each aspect of the theatrical space: directing, teaching, performing, administration, management, and development. She is committed to using the administrative side of the theater and her background in psychology to create systems and organization that can empower creatives and young performers to find a rare balance in excelling in their field while prioritizing their humanity. She believes in leading with curiosity and empathy in everything she does.
At the 2013 Tony Awards, Neil Patrick Harris swung from a life-size Tony Award proclaiming “There’s a kid in the middle of nowhere who’s sitting there living for Tony Performances. Singing and flipping along with the Pippins, and Wicked and Kinkys, Matildas, and Mormons. So, we might reassure that kid, and do something to spur that kid, ‘casue I promise you, all of us up here tonight we were that kid.”
She is that kid.
Remaining deeply grateful to be a part of theater magic daily, she also enjoys exploring a good bookstore, chasing the next best chai latte, running around Disney World with friends, and discussing her favorite podcast or reality television show. Sophie is an opinionated eldest daughter, a joy to have in class, an Amy March apologist, and thinks caring is the coolest and kindest thing a person can do.
